About the Founder
A Lifelong Player, Building a Home for Chess
Ukrainian American Chess Association (UACA) was founded by Solomiia Kucher, a lifelong chess player with a passion for building stronger chess communities and creating opportunities for players across the United States.
Solomiia began playing chess at the age of seven and has competed in chess tournaments across Ukraine, France, and the United States. Through her experiences as a player, she recognized the importance of creating a connected community where chess players of different backgrounds can compete, learn, and grow together.
Inspired by the rich Ukrainian chess tradition and the diverse chess community in America, Solomiia founded UACA to bring players together through tournaments, events, and shared opportunities. Her vision is to create a modern chess organization that celebrates chess excellence, supports player development, and connects communities through the game.
